Meet Joyce

Commitment to Alameda

My name is Joyce Boyd and I am running for a seat on the Alameda School Board. My career as a CPA has been devoted to nonprofits. I have raised my family in Alameda. My children have attended Alameda public schools with my youngest currently at Alameda High School. I am part of Alameda civic life, serving on local nonprofit boards.

Commitment to Education

I am currently the Chairperson of the Parcel Tax Oversight Committee, a Board Member of the citywide Alameda PTA Council, and a Board Member of the Alameda High School PTSA.

While on the Paden Elementary PTA board, raised funds for and installed a new playground. I have campaigned for successful AUSD parcel taxes. I have served on PTA Boards for 10 years and was a previous School Site Council Board Member. I have also written about education matters for the Alameda Post.

Commitment to Others

I grew up in Detroit, Michigan raised by a single mother on welfare. I studied hard at the local public school, held down a job, and was the first in my family to graduate from college.

I know what it is to struggle. My career and volunteer work has been committed to serve others.
