Why I'm Running for School Board
10/24/2026
Education changed the course of my life. I want every student in Alameda to have the opportunity to build a future they may not yet imagine is possible.
I grew up in Detroit with a single mother who relied on welfare. We lived in a housing project, and I became the first person in my family to graduate from college. My own experience taught me that a strong public education can open doors that once seemed out of reach.
After more than 20 years volunteering in Alameda’s schools, I’m ready to bring that commitment to the school board. As a Certified Public Accountant, I also bring professional experience managing finances and resources for nonprofit organizations, including affordable housing in San Francisco’s Tenderloin.
I’m running because every student deserves a strong academic foundation, dedicated teachers, and a safe, supportive school where they can learn and thrive. I want to help Alameda make sound financial decisions, support our educators, and keep students’ needs at the center of those decisions.
Public education gave me opportunity. Now I want to help ensure that opportunity is there for every Alameda student.
